What do I need to consider?

It looks like I may need to change my power supply on my pc. Is it as easy as just going out and buying the first 400w one I see or are there certain things that need to be accounted for or considered first? Are there different types/fittings? If so how do I know which would be right for my PC?What do I need to consider?
You need to consider the type or size of your computer casing, if it is an ATX or micro ATX, etc. But usually computers have ATX casing.

Just a tip, buy the same or higher watts as your original power supply. Do not go down below the original.

Yes, you may want to ask for someone to help you install that or find more information in the internet on how to install that, without burning your computer! Just kidding!

Goodluck! What do I need to consider?
Most power supplies have the same fixings and should fit into most cases. Take your existing power supply out and take it with you to make sure you buy one of the right type.

It's only a few plugs and screws. What do I need to consider?

Power supplies have standard fittings for PC cases, only around 4 or 5 screws into the back of the base unit. Only thing to consider really is how strong you need the PSU to be i.e. 400w ..500w etc all depends on how much the PC needs to power, graphics card demand, amount of RAM, type of processor etc. What do I need to consider?
I would get a 500 or 550watt PSU. As then you`ll have plenty of power should you decide to add more hardware to it. Also, I would recommend visiting www.ebuyer.co.uk as they have some very good deals on power supplies. I bought a 550w silent for under 拢30. It powers my high end graphics card without any problems.
