Is it possible to integrate the AVR circuit to the PC Power Supply circuit, what are the similarity of these 2?

We buy AVR to protect our PC from voltage fluctuations, now this is a separate unit. How about integrating that AVR circuit in the power supply so to have the same protection. The questions are:

1. What are the similarity and differences between AVR and a power supplyin terms of circuit connections and components? 2. What part in the power supply circuit should we connect the circuit which will work to regulate voltage fluctuations?

3. In terms of heat dissipation, will this integration adds up to the heat in the power supply?

4. Will there be a change in the performance of two separate units (AVR and power supply) vs. Power supply with integrated AVR cirucit?

5. Will there be a need to increase the size of the power supply to accommodate the additional AVR circuitry?

6. In financial aspect, will it be cheaper to have a power supply integrated with an AVR circuit than having two components (AVR and power supply)? Is it possible to integrate the AVR circuit to the PC Power Supply circuit, what are the similarity of these 2?
By AVR, I am assuming you mean Automatic Voltage Regulator. Most good computer power supplies have AVR integrated into their design. The only way to know if your AVR circuitry is working correctly is to test them under load, preferably %75 or higher.

If you suspect your AVR isn't working correctly there could be 2 problems. 1st, you are putting too much of a load on the power supply or 1 of the devices are drawing too much current. Check out the rating for each device connected to the power supply. Perhap you are over the rating of your power supply.

Also, it the power coming out of your outlet may be the problem depending on where you live. Steady 50 cycles minimum at 110 VAC is the standard for DC power supplies. You will need an oscilloscope to check proper cycles and to see transient noise/phase problems. My suggestion af you thing you have a proplem with you power from the socket, add a UPS and see if your problems go away.
