How can a geforce 9600 work on my pc?

My computer is from 2003, and I have a crappy geforce 6800 gt, but my power supply is new and has up to 500 watts, witch can easily support a Geforce 9600. The question is, if technology has changed, what will I need to make my computer able to support a Geforce 9600 and what do you calculate it will all cost? Take in mind that the geforce 9600 is cheap and is worth about 150 bucks. How can a geforce 9600 work on my pc?
all you need is a free pci-e slotHow can a geforce 9600 work on my pc?
maybe you would need a free pci-e 16x slot if your 6800 is in a pci-e 16 x slot it should work you would need to update your drivers though. See what nvidia has on there site about hardware computability
